One of my favorite professor’s told our class that an important way to blog is list blogging. It gives the reader something concrete to know what they’re getting into. When I heard him mention list blogging, I perked right up from my lecture slump. I am the queen of lists. I can be the most organized person(when I want to be). It’s crazy all of the lists I have made over the years. Here’s a list of my 5 best things to know about writing lists for organization.
1. Date and time- I always start with this!! If you don’t have a time of when you’re going to have things started or finished what’s the point?
2. Subject- Always stay on subject. If you need to go off subject then you probably have a different list to write. (Just last night I wrote 2 separate lists about this upcoming week & tomorrow specifically)
3. Content- I love a juicy list containing someone’s favorite numbers(if you know what I mean) but I usually try and keep my lists content meaningful. For example, last week I created a list of 20 things to do before I turn 21. Everything I plan to do has a value and purpose behind it.
4. Number- Numbers are important because they can have value in and of themselves! Number 1 can be the first thing you want to accomplish(or NEED to, if it’s the homework assignment that’s due at midnight and you can’t focus on the actual assignment but you can say it’s your top priority)
5. Last but not least- I am very specific about my hand writing[I generally choose to write by hand instead of typing on a computer (this could be because I lost my broken computer but that’s beside the point)] Your hand writing is something that belongs to only you!! Practice it if you have to. It is only going to allow you to do the things you want in life. My hand writing has allowed me to write and draw menu boards, menu special signs, even welcome people to events. In some cases, people’s handwriting can be one of their biggest assets(maybe this is just how I see that person).
Your handwriting is what defines you(even if it is just on a list you’re writing about what fun adventures your going on this summer). Hand writing lists will help you perfect your own John Hancock. The thing that is on every one of your letters, credit cards, purchases, will, marriage license, or even your granddaughters tattoos. Make it count.
